Jeriah Rovan is driven to save his brother, Tobin, who has aided the sorceress Makenna in entering the Otherworld to find safe haven for the goblins. The Otherworld is a place where Tobin is bound to die if not rescued quickly, but Jeriah needs magic and powers to aid him in opening a gate to rescue his brother. This quest leads him to serious conflicts with his father and into deep danger as he positions himself working in the palace temple in order to find the secret notes that give instructions on creating a gate into the Otherworld.
