Samuel R. Watkins

Samuel Rush Watkins (June 26, 1839 – July 20, 1901) was an American writer and humorist best known for his Civil War memoir, Company Aytch. He served as a Confederate soldier in the 1st Tennessee Infantry Regiment and became one of the most famous firsthand chroniclers of the common soldier’s experience in the western theater of the war.
