MARIE FRANCE FAY

Marie de France was a twelfth-century poet and one of the earliest known women to write in French. She is best known for her narrative lais, as well as fables and the work commonly called "The Purgatory of St. Patrick"; she likely lived and wrote in England and was associated with the court of Henry II.
