Harry C. Boyte

Harry C. Boyte is a prominent civic educator and founder of Public Achievement, an international youth civic education initiative active in over 20 countries, and co-founder of the Public Work Academy. As a young man, he worked as a field secretary for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in Martin Luther King’s civil rights movement. He is Senior Scholar in Public Work Philosophy at the Sabo Center for Democracy and Citizenship at Augsburg University, author of numerous books on civic agency and democracy, and architect of the 'public work' framework for citizenship.
