Christopher Celenza
Christopher S. Celenza is the James B. Knapp Dean of the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University, where he also serves as Professor of History and Classics, and previously was Dean of Georgetown College at Georgetown University and Director of the American Academy in Rome from 2010-2014.[1][2][4] A leading scholar of the Italian Renaissance, he has authored prize-winning books including The Lost Italian Renaissance (2004), Machiavelli: A Portrait (2015), The Intellectual World of the Italian Renaissance (2017), and The Italian Renaissance and the Origin of the Humanities (2021).[1][4] He has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, American Council of Learned Societies, Villa I Tatti, American Academy in Rome, and Fulbright Foundation.[1]
