Alicia Reichel-Dolmatoff
Alicia Reichel-Dolmatoff (Alicia Dussán de Reichel) was a pioneering Colombian anthropologist and educator, one of the first students of ethnology in the country and the only woman conducting archaeological and anthropological studies in Colombia for two decades.[1][2] With her husband Gerardo Reichel-Dolmatoff, she founded the University of the Andes' Department of Anthropology, researched indigenous cultures like the Kogi and Tukano, and co-authored over 40 books including 'The People of Aritama'.[1][2][3] She held Chair 15 of the Colombian Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences until 2008 and received the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2010.[1]
