As a teacher and educational consultant, I met with hundreds of parents. The editors of this book have compiled a wonderful group of experts to address many of the parenting challenges that I have heard them raise. In the first line of the introduction, the question is raised, why do we need another parenting book? It's a good question, as there are many out there. But this one is unique in that it addresses all kinds of topics for children of all ages. It is not a 'one method fits all' kind of book. Yes, it does have the words 'tough love' in the title, and yes, it focus on discipline, but it does so in the context of PURPOSE. What do we want to teach our children in the process of disciplining? While it does have examples, I was impressed that the meat of the book is not the examples, but the very common sense advice on each topic, whether that be developing empathy in children, dealing with the challenges of technology, or teaching independence. It also provides plenty of research to back up the advice. I highly recommend this book, both to read through to guide you in wise parenting skills, but as a reference on your bookshelf for when various problems arise. Read more
