Rumer Marshall is a talented young black concert pianist. Concerto tells the story of her experiences in the musical world, especially after 9/11 as she recalls the painful and joyful moments along the way. In particular, Ana Grdosic from Yugoslavia, an enormously talented musician herself, as well as Rumer’s orchestral professor, has a vast influence on her life. Daughter of a Muslim mother and Croatian father, her family came to the US during the civil war of homeland in 1993. Ana helps Rumer deal with many issues, including her relationship with her father. Between Ana’s soothing advice and the inner peace she finds with her music, she is able to better cope with life’s problems.
